As a child, Erika admired the stories and illustrations in the Brothers Grimm and other fairy tales that her mother read to her and her sisters. Now she makes and sells her magical and whimsical healing dolls in her Washington, DC studio, inspired by childhood memories, dreams and her imagination. She visited the National Zoo in Washington for inspiration, though no penguins followed her (that she could see.) She is trained as an art therapist and fine artist.
